Deck Builder 3.8.3 is a fix release for everyone who uses the web app and their phone together. Decks you built in the browser now arrive on Android intact, both as a file you export and through cloud sync. The sort menu also stops showing English to everyone.
Decks from the web now work on your phone
Since the web app’s big 3.8.2 update, decks created in the browser have had a broken path to Android. Two independent defects were responsible, and both are fixed:
- File import failed. Every deck exported from the web app carried a text label where Android expected an ID, so importing the file on your phone failed with “unable to read JSON”. A user lost a full evening to this one. The web app now writes the correct ID, and the Android import also tolerates files from other tools that put something else in that field.
- Cloud sync failed. The same wrong field made web-synced decks fail to download on Android, so cross-device sync silently broke for decks built in the browser. Sync documents written from now on carry the correct ID.
- A second import fix for decks with linked art. A deck file whose cards use remotely hosted images (Scryfall cards, for example) could not be imported at all. The blank-image marker those cards carry is now understood, so the card imports and its art loads from the source it belongs to.
If you hit one of these errors, open your synced decks or re-import the file and it will come through now.
The sort menu speaks your language
The deck sorting from 3.8.2 shipped with its “Last updated” label in English only, so every non-English user saw the odd English entry in an otherwise native menu. The label is now translated into all 17 supported languages.
Getting the update
The Android update is rolling out to testers now and reaches everyone through Google Play. The web side of these fixes is already live: open app.deckbuilderapp.app and you are on the newest build.
