Deck Builder 3.11.0 is the scanner-and-AI release: you can finally batch-scan a stack of Magic cards in one go, the Card Designer grows thirteen AI-painted backgrounds, and your deck’s description and rules can now write themselves. Under the hood, Magic search got a skeleton-fast feed and Cloud Sync shows live progress. Here is everything new.
Fast scan mode
The headline feature. Open the Magic card search menu and tap Fast scan: point your camera at a card, and the shutter fires itself, haptics confirm the hit, and the next card is ready before you have put the first one down. Every capture shows its certainty percentage while the lookup runs in the background, so a big stack of cards becomes a minute of flipping and tapping. Cards that do not scan keep their photo so you can re-scan or look them up manually afterwards. Read the fast scan guide.
A new scan overlay
The single-card scanner got the same treatment: a new in-app camera screen with a card-shaped framing overlay measured from real MTG card proportions, auto-capture when the card fills the guide, a torch toggle for dark rooms, and manual capture when you want full control. Failed scans no longer dead-end either: the correction sheet keeps the photo, tells you why it failed, and offers Scan again right there.
AI in the Card Designer
Two AI additions this release. First, backgrounds: the designer’s background picker now leads with thirteen AI-generated backdrops, from Cosmic Nebula to Royal Damask, all painted as native card-shaped portraits so they never need cropping. A fresh design starts on Clean Slate, a calm neutral background, instead of a gray canvas. Second, deck metadata: your deck’s description and rules text can be generated with one tap, with an undo button that appears the moment you generate, so experimenting is risk-free. See the AI backgrounds guide and the AI deck description guide.
Card backs at deck creation
New decks no longer start with an anonymous card back. The creation form now has a labeled Card Back row with a preview thumbnail: leave it on Automatic for the round-robin preset, or tap Choose to browse the built-in designs, scan one, or pick from your gallery. Read the card back picker guide.
Magic search feed upgrades
The Magic search screen opens with a card-shaped skeleton feed that fills progressively with the newest 100 cards, so you see content instantly instead of a spinner. Search results show a result count (“Showing 20 of 175 cards”) and, on the collapsed feed tiles, a hint of how many printings each card has. Cards you scanned in one session get a From this scan filter chip, and scanned duplicates show an xN chip instead of silently collapsing.
Cloud Sync gets live progress and parallel uploads
The sync screen now shows live upload and download progress so a big first sync is no longer a blind wait. Uploads and downloads run in parallel, downloads batch-load their database rows, and buying Pro from the sync paywall now switches cloud sync on automatically instead of leaving you to find the toggle.
Fixes
- The Magic search feed reliably shows all 100 cards, paints progressively, and lands at the top instead of mid-scroll.
- Single-card scan opens the detail view again after a successful lookup.
- The deck list holds its skeleton until per-deck sizes and tags settle, no more flash-away.
- Deck search opens with all deck cards and filters down as you type.
- The search filter sheet scrolls its chip row instead of clipping the fourth chip.
- Every item in the deck details dropdown closes the menu now.
- AI undo offers survive generation into an empty field.
